I'm thrilled to announce the release of my second album At The Healing Tree - 10 tracks recorded with my producer Richard Bloom at Chapel Studios in Bristol. The album features some lovely musicians and was released at a live album launch on Oct 25th 2013 in Bristol. The album's available in hard copy at my website www.chandramoon.com or to download from CDbaby, iTunes or Amazon. I hope you enjoy it.
I wrote and recorded enough songs to release my first album Full Circle in February 2008. Many of my songs originate from African drum rhythms which I've studied and enjoyed for many years.
....."Intelligent, beautifully crafted songs"- Bristol Venue
....."It's good stuff and should go down really well in the acoustic music scene happening in Bristol currently........A fine album" Gary Smith - Bristol Uncovered BBC Radio Bristol.
....."Soulful, melodic and chilled, Chandra Moon's album 'Full Circle' rests on slick, uncluttered production boasting some enchanting vocals backed by dreamy strings, classical guitar, double bass and woodwind....
...."If you like KD Lang, Ryan Adams or Morcheeba, this may well be an album for you" - Bristol Rocks.
My first album Full Circle can also be downloaded from CDbaby or a hard copy direct from my website. There's a special two album deal there too!
I've also launched two stations here called Over The Moon where I'm adding all sorts of tracks that I personally like and Airspace for ambient and chillout music - hope you enjoy them!
This song is about the amazing things we can do in dreams or when the soul is released from the body. Here's a mastered version. Hope you like it.
This weird and spooky song is about the awful tricks your own mind plays at night to keep you awake! Mastered version. Added to Hitline May 2013! Thanks.
Before You Were Born
This is a crazy reggae song about taking LSD in the seventies - I'm not recommending it - quite the opposite but I don't regret it! Here's a mastered version with more bass. Hope you like it.
At The Healing Tree
I wrote this song after an amazing hopi ear candle session - it speaks of childhood memories, ghosts and Africa. It is the title track of my second album. I hope you enjoy it.
No Friend Of Mine
This is a song I wrote in 2008 about a very good of friend of mine who suddenly turned on me for reasons unknown. We've never reconciled and I still don't know why. Mastered version March 2013.
Can't Touch The Sky
Just spotted this song is back at 1 (Dec 2013) Was #1 Song on Folk/Acoustic/Americana New Songs Chart for several months. The guitar picking for this song is inspired by an African drum rhythm which got stuck in my head and developed into this track.
Through The Fingers Of Your Hand
This is a new recording of this song about losing your creative flow, feeling time is passing uselessly instead of creatively. A phase I went through when I tried living in the countryside. Mastered version.
Sing A Song Of All Our Nations-VERY rough version!
This is a very rough first take of a new song. I'll probably write a third verse at some point - Paddy Uglow on backing vocals and keys.
Five Years Ago
This is my most bluesy track - about not letting go of a relationship you know should be over by now! Mastered version March 2013.
This was one of my earliest songs which didn't get recorded on the first album. Hope you enjoy this new mix.
Rain, Rain It Poureth Down!
This song was inspired by a West African rhythm which is similar to a lot of folk music. The time signature is 7/8 but feels more like 12/8 as it's all in triplets! I wrote the lyrics in 2007 after terrible floods in the UK and devastating floods in Kenya. Although the tune seems happy, the message is serious.I was delighted that Jo May agreed to play the bodhran and spoons on this track with Paddy Uglow on the fiddle. It reached #1 in all genres here for several weeks! Mastered version.
I wrote this simple love song about my lovely man. Hope you like it. The Youtube video is from the album launch in Oct 2013.
Haven't Known You Very Long
This one's about those early days when you first meet someone special!
Clear As A Dream
A dreamy song to chill to - about fond memories of love and friendships old and was #1 in genre (Ambient) for about six months in 2011!
Sit Here Dreaming
The cries of seagulls which I've tried to emulate in the instrumental break was what inspired me to write this tune.... did well in the blues chart here at IAC.
I wrote this song after the Boxing Day Tsunami 2004. The more recent events in Japan brought all the memories back again. It's the title track of my first album.
This song is about somehow overcoming your fear and just going for it!
A song of retribution by a woman on a man - a completely true story - I really did burn his rocking horse!
When It Ends
Trying to stay as friends after a relationship has finished. Enjoy Richard Bloom's great guitar solo in the instrumental break! This one was on the KIAC Hitline for several months and is now climbing the charts - Thanks!
Twice A Year
This song is about only seeing your father twice a year as a child - it's not really a sad song but people always think it is!
Over So Quick
A song about the speed life is whizzing past!!
People of This Earth
This spiritual song is all about equality and peace which I believe in passionately.
I wrote this song on a visit to Australia to see my spiritual teacher
This is another track with Moriba Kuyateh on Kora (African harp) with his kora student Sean Gaskell. Plus Chandramoon on flute and Moussa Sylla on Bolon (African bass)and Chris Diallo on shaker.
This song is from The Gambia and the Kora is played by Moriba Kuyarteh and I'm playing the flute.
This is a recording of Moriba Kuyarteh on Kora with Chandra Moon on Flute at Sandele Ecolodge, Kartong, The Gambia.
Foday Kabar (Live jam session)
Live jam session of traditional Mandinka song played in the Gambia - Moriba and Sean - Kora Chandra Moon - Flute, Moussa Sylla - Bolon
