The Art Factory was formed with the intent of selecting music for the enjoyment of the station manager without an expected or designed impact within a larger context or environment. Over the course of a year stations grew due to the manager/artitst's increasing desire to address environmental concerns having to do with social commentary, of which humanitarian and political subject took form via interactivity within the larger forum of the IAC experience. Within a short period of time of connectivity and observation within the community the station manager realized the importance of our symbiotic relationship in support of music and to communication arts. One of the fundamental aspects driving the art factory stems from the following whole making theory within the Gestalt view of nature.
"Human beings are whole-makers, synthesizers of a wide variety of bodily, perceptual, cognitive, behavioral, and existential gestalts (Crocker, 1999). Learning and change is the result of how an individual organizes his/her experiences and assimilates novelty. Human beings can neither refrain from meaning making nor from organizing and reorganizing themselves as they have new experiences." |
