Species 8472 is not a band. Species 8472 is an Internet-based project thats always under construction. Like the Star Trek creature from fluidic space whose name it borrows, its a shapeshifting beast which comes at you from everywhere at once.
Founded and directed by musicians Alasdair Wright and Clare O'Brien from their home in the Scottish Highlands, Species 8472 constantly adapts, reaching out and involving musicians and artists from other parts of the world and using the Internet to communicate, write and record. Participants are of all ages and ancestries, both genders but a common language music.
Species 8472 exists to write, record and perform original music with a smattering of inventive covers. Released in the spring of 2006, Power Up is its first CD.
Species 8472 is music from nowhere.
