It all started in grade 5 when "The Jansen 5" exploded into and out of the music scene - all
in one day! It was an air-band with a shot at glory in the annual talent contest. They lost - the band broke up.
Grade 6 was different. Featuring a full rock band called "Venus" with 3 guitars, drums, bass, and Rob singing lead vocals - it was a real band this time and that set the stage for the many years to come of writing, recording and playing live music.
Many other bands followed: "Midweek Krisis" in 1984, "Moving Target" in 1988. "Target" would play for several years at local venues and attended the 1990 Juno Awards.
2001 saw the release of an independent debut CD which garnered radio airplay with the anthem
"Rock Star" and "I Miss My Friend". Many tracks on this CD were welcomed as Robert became one of the top downloaded Canadian artists on mp3.com.
2005 was the return to the live music scene with cover band "One Atom12" playing energetic rock shows at local venues and corporate concerts.
2008-2010 Back to writing and recording for the latest release "Long Story Short" which has
already been well received with the lead track: "I Found You".
Robert's music is known to be quite varied in styles and influences with the likes of the Beatles, Def Leppard, Blink 182, Cheap Trick and even ABBA can be heard throughout the songs.
Everything you hear in the music was written, performed, produced and engineered by Robert.

A song about life, forgiveness, atonement and Peace.
A Little Bit Crazy
Recently recorded in February 2010, this is a *new* release of the original 1999-2000 song 'A Little Bit Crazy'. ALBC is a straight ahead pop-rock song with lush harmonies and a chorus that will stick to your shoe like bubble-gum!
Bring It Up
If volume was a drug, this might be the needle. Inducing the line: "Hook me up Mr. DJ just a little bit more...", this is a song to get you out of bed in the morning. It's a song to crank on the car stereo, with the windows down. It's a song to get people moving at a party. It's whatever you need it to be, as long as you 'Bring It Up'!
Where Do We Go
A humble song about innocence. The hero of the song is waiting to be 'born' but he is able to see the world through his mother's eyes. Put on your headphones and float away for 3 minutes and 18 seconds.
I Found You
Popbang Radio calls it: "...An up tempo, hook filled definition of power pop!"
I Miss My Friend (Re-release 2010)
*NEW** version. Updating the 10 year old original, 'I Miss My Friend' is a poignant song about reminding people to not take things, or people for granted. If you have something to say to someone, say it before it's too late, or before they are gone forever.
Long Story Short, I Believe
A jangly song where the hero of the song is unsure of his direction in life. The song travels along this journey until he finds the path that he was looking for - and it was right before his eyes.
This one is from the archives, circa 2001. Back in the day, this song had the honor of being one of the top downloaded songs on mp3.com. There are several references to real rock star follies including falling off the stage, crashing a car, spandex and more.
I get a lot of email from parents telling me their kids play this song non-stop while dancing around the house air-banding the guitars and screaming the lyrics...god bless 'em!
Here's 2 Dreaming
A darker pop song where the hero of the song explores his dreams in order to catch up with the one that got away...
Classically inspired piece, written in the same vein as the Pachelbel Canon using repetitive 'rounds'. "What if the sky lost all it's blue, and the green grass did that too..."
It Must Be Love
Released in 2001. Featuring soaring harmonies and catchy guitar riffs.
A Beatlesque mid-tempo ballad with a Spanish influenced instrumental section. Released in 2001.
I Wonder What It's Like (To Be Like You)
Has someone 'done you wrong' in the past? If you've ever wanted to tell that someone what's really on your mind, this might be that song that helps you get it off your chest!
What's Your Problem
Based on real life events of dealing with being 'different' or of different color. This song has a Rob Zombie feel, a Beatle-esque 'call-and-return' chorus of the antagonist against the victim and is capped off with one of JFK's most famous quotes.
Together At Christmas
Together at Christmas combines a familiar Christmas carol with a folk-modern cheerful song about sharing and being together with family and friends.
