I am an independent musician living in West Virginia, making up these songs, and learning a lot about myself and the world in the process. I love stripped down acoustic folk and blues music. I like to hear songs boiled down to their bare essence. That is mainly what I am going for in my own music. Along the way I hope to make people think and maybe smile a little. All the tunes posted here are stripped down and much of it is recorded live with only some multi-tracking here and there- nothing to hide! Demo quality to be sure, but with all my heart and soul in every song! Best wishes, -JP
Wish I Was A Turtle I see you comin' and I'll snap back into my shell!
Used To Be Cool in High School Blues Being a post-high school loser is hard to take!
Who Pissed In Your Corn Flakes? (Husband's Prayer) There's nothing worse than not knowing.
You Have To Learn To Smile You know the world could use a grin...Forget about all the trouble we're in
The River It's so hard without you at my parents' house.
Have I Got A Story For You Whenever you're down and you're feeling blue... Have I got a story for you.
Partners in Crime I love scheming with you!
The Isle of Regret I got lost on a Sea of Conviction and ended up on the Isle of Regret
Hit 'Em Where It Hurts I wrote this during the George W Bush era. I wrote the whole thing just to get to the last verse and the inevitable punchline. The willow has grown weary.
In My Head Here's a look at what's going on up in this old head of mine :)
Feet Don't Fail Me Now Feet don't fail me now / When all is clearly lost / I must emerge somehow / I know there'll be a cost.
Tickled Pink This is a new tune I just wrote recently. My uncle used to always say he was "tickled pink" about something. I've been threatening (to myself) to use it in a song for many years now. So here it is!
Walk of Shame The truth it hurts in the guilty morning light.
Stuck Without My Long Johns Again It wouldn't be the first time I've fallen from her grace!
Sand Creek This story is sad but true.
Goldnugget Lane If only life were this simple and sweet.
Lioness Lioness, I see your eyes in my dreams.
One-Eyed Willie (The Thirteenth Apostle) Co-wrote this with my buddy Sam, the Man with No Band. As fellow IACer Mike Palazzolo once said, "Here's to Fast-Talking Hippies and Unsung Heroes!" Thanks Mike- that's how I toast before I sing this song these days! :)
Why Jack Why? Our favorite nursery rhyme hero is depressed but he's not giving up that easily.
Mad River You can't float down Mad River / And just leave this mess behind you.
Rise Again (Live from Nowhere 2009) I recorded this song live all by my lonesome earlier this year. I've been beaten down so much my skin is wearing thin...
Cup Runneth Over Stripped down acoustic blues. Sometimes you're too much.
Bad Combover Family Intervention This madness has got to stop!!
Nothing Special I wrote this with my good friend C.F. Truman who is a fantastic musician. I supplied the lyrics and he came up with the music. I never would have come up with this chord progression and melody on my own. I love it! This is my crude version of the song.
Show Me Yours and I'll Show You Mine Why doesn't anybody believe me when I say that this is a love song? That's my brother-in-law Eric Chandler on mandolin!
The Long and Short of It (Ice Figure Skater Blues) There's nothing worse than a bitter former ice figure skater from Texas!
When I Fly You know I fly for you...
Lake of Seven Mirrors When you look in there's no telling what you'll see.

9/3/2011 6:25:14 PM I just listened to your song "Lioness"-I had never heard it before and was totally blown away. It is beautifully written and performed. I want to hear it over and over again. All is well with you I hope. I have been doing open mics with my garage band and with the acoustic duo/trio-it's been a lot of fun.
7/20/2011 2:09:17 PM JP, I've been away from here for a while too as evidenced by the fact that I just saw your message on my page. I am still playing with two different groups though one has slowed down over the summer. Have been doing some acoustic open mics both with one or two others and by myself-it's been fun. I look forward to hearing your new songs and how you've redone some old ones. Your music keeps coming up on my I-POD by the way. I am actually on my way out now but will be back to listen as soon as I can. Hope all is well with you and your family. Jeff

I've been playing with my garage band and also connected with two other people to do some acoustic stuff. We played a couple open mics and hopefully will continue to do that. I even snuck in a couple originals at one of them. It's been fun. Doing some writing-put one or two on my page in the recent past but I;m actually spending more time playing than writing right now. What's with you? Are you doing much writing/playing??? Hope all is well with you and your family. Jeff
