I've moved back to Bristol, UK and am now well advanced in recording my second album At The Healing Tree which will be released later in 2012 or early 2013. I love the recording process and working with my producer Richard Bloom at Chapel Studios, Bristol. I started song writing in 2005 and thanks to a brilliant songwriting group in Bristol run by the very wonderful Patrick Duff I wrote and recorded enough songs to release my first album Full Circle in February 2008. Many of my songs originate from African drum rhythms which I've studied and enjoyed for many years. ....."Intelligent, beautifully crafted songs"- Bristol Venue ....."It's good stuff and should go down really well in the acoustic music scene happening in Bristol currently........A fine album" Gary Smith - Bristol Uncovered BBC Radio Bristol. ....."Soulful, melodic and chilled, Chandra Moon's album 'Full Circle' rests on slick, uncluttered production boasting some enchanting vocals backed by dreamy strings, classical guitar, double bass and woodwind.... ...."If you like KD Lang, Ryan Adams or Morcheeba, this may well be an album for you" - Bristol Rocks. My album Full Circle can be downloaded or bought as a hard copy from CDbaby (see link) and is very inexpensive for 12 beautifully produced tracks or you can buy them track by track here at IAC for only 50c each (just click the $ sign by whichever track you'd like to download). I've also launched a station here called Over The Moon where I'm adding all sorts of tracks that I personally like and hope you enjoy too!
Easy This song is about the amazing things we can do in dreams or when the soul is released from the body.
At The Healing Tree I wrote this song after an amazing hopi ear candle session - it speaks of childhood memories, ghosts and Africa.
Trust Me - Unmastered Demo This was one of my earliest songs which didn't get recorded on the first album. I think it may be the title track of the new one. Hope you enjoy this unmastered version.
Can't Touch The Sky Was #1 Song on Folk/Acoustic/Americana New Songs Chart for several months. The guitar picking for this song is inspired by an African drum rhythm which got stuck in my head and developed into this track.
Clear As A Dream A dreamy song to chill to - about fond memories of love and friendships old and was #1 in genre (Ambient) for about six months in 2011!
Fiery Hoop This song is about somehow overcoming your fear and just going for it!
People of This Earth This spiritual song is all about equality and peace which I believe in passionately.
Full Circle I wrote this song after the Boxing Day Tsunami 2004. The more recent events in Japan brought all the memories back again. It's the title track of my first album.
Haven't Known You Very Long This one's about those early days when you first meet someone special!
Over So Quick A song about the speed life is whizzing past!!
Sit Here Dreaming The cries of seagulls which I've tried to emulate in the instrumental break was what inspired me to write this tune.... did well in the blues chart here at IAC.
Through The Fingers Of Your Hand Here's a new demo version of this song featuring Ravdeep Singh on the sarangi - a bowed intrument from India. The studio version will also have tablas but this is to give you an idea of the feel of the song!
Banali This song is from The Gambia and the Kora is played by Moriba Kuyarteh and I'm playing the flute.
Twice A Year This song is about only seeing your father twice a year as a child - it's not really a sad song but people always think it is!
When It Ends Trying to stay as friends after a relationship has finished. Enjoy Richard Bloom's great guitar solo in the instrumental break! This one was on the KIAC Hitline for several months and is now climbing the charts - Thanks!
Alifa Yaya This is another track with Moriba Kuyateh on Kora (African harp) with his kora student Sean Gaskell. Plus Chandramoon on flute and Moussa Sylla on Bolon (African bass)and Chris Diallo on shaker.
Endless Love I wrote this song on a visit to Australia to see my spiritual teacher
Foday Kabar (Live jam session) Live jam session of traditional Mandinka song played in the Gambia - Moriba and Sean - Kora Chandra Moon - Flute, Moussa Sylla - Bolon
Shadow Puppets This is a weird and strange song about the spooky thoughts and ideas that haunt you keep you awake at night. This is a rough version - the track is in progress in the studio and will be on the new album so watch this space!
Miniyambar This is a recording of Moriba Kuyarteh on Kora with Chandra Moon on Flute at Sandele Ecolodge, Kartong, The Gambia.
