Daniel Alcazar, "Segosha", is a guitarist, singer-songwriter. Born into a Spanish-Irish home, he grew up listening to winding melodies of traditional Celtic music, Irish folk and the rhythmic fury of Flamenco. Segosha's introduction to music began with piano lessons at age 6. At 17, he discovered the guitar and fell in love with it. He played lead in a Battle of the Bands in high school and later on with college bands. In 1995, Segosha saved his pennies and bought a 4-track recorder and began to write music and lyrics that were close to his heart. Since then, he has played many songwriter spotlights, coffeehouses, city streets, entertained the homeless, mentally ill, school kids, and stray dogs-his audience is as diverse as his music! Segosha’s inspiration draws from many different things such as spiritual combat, Greek mythology, postmodernism, and the writings of C.S. Lewis, G.K. Chesterton, T.S. Eliot, Father John Corapi, Bishop Fulton Sheen. His musical influences include Mozart, Bach, Tchaikovsky, Rodrigo, Robert Johnson, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, U2, The Beatles, Jeff Beck, Bob Dylan, Robert Johnson, Wings, Jimmy Page, David Bowie, Supertramp, Paco de Lucia, The Pogues, Wings, The Doors, Pink Floyd, Brian May & Queen, Rush, Radiohead, Johnny Cash, Randy Rhoads, Michael Schenker, and Thin Lizzy.
In 1997, Segosha released his first self-produced album, loaded with soaring melodies, gritty vocals, mystical lyrics and walls of guitars. In 2000, he won Songwriter's Monthly lyricist award Words By for his song "Laughing at the Sun", a much loved children's anthem in salute of children’s imaginations. In 2001, he was Featured Spotlight Artist of the Week for several straight weeks at 92.5 FM WQYZ (Ocean Springs, MS) with the song "Better Day", which was a smash hit with Gulf Coast radio listeners. In 2003, Segosha released his second self-produced album entitled, "Carve Me a Moon", dedicated to his grandmother and inspired by cosmic lunacy, 3-D perspective, Ireland, Seattle, Delta Blues, Salvador Dali, CSX trains and a tumultuous love affair with a certain Mississippi moon goddess. In 2004, his song, "Arrow to the Sun", was voted Track of the Day by musicians and listeners in Garageband.com.
