I recall the day the idea for this CD was hatched. Wednesday, January 11, 2012, we all ate lunch in the corner booth at Garfield's restaurant in Lancaster, PA. Our 2nd CD was nearly done and discussion focused on finishing touches and loose ends. But Johnny was already way ahead of us, and proposed our next venture, the CD you hold in your hands. Our first CD, the Johnny Bravo Latin Percussion Ensemble, was a fusion of Latin, Jazz, and Rock genres. "This one is dedicated solely to Latin Jazz," he said. It didn't take any time for us to all sign up! Dave Pedrick soon became the head wrangler, scheduling studio time and getting everyone rounded up for the sessions. We took some time deciding exactly which tunes to put on the CD, but did not rehearse them prior to going into the studio. They were very casual sessions, with many wide grins and a few 2nd takes. Steve Puffer, at Parallel Productions, was a wizard at the controls and captured the magic as it flowed. Having been friends for many years now, we truly have become brothers in a sense. We know each others' styles and can finish each other's musical thoughts. Recording this CD was pure joy for all of us. I truly hope that some of that joy is reflected in the music and brings joy into the your lives, the listeners. Members of the Johnny Bravo Combo. Dave Pedrick, Guitar Mike Bitts, Bass Robin Church, Trumpet, Fugel Horn Ken McCoy, Sax, Flute Johnny Bravo, Timbales, Congas
