Orphus band members J.J. Randall and Todd Ingle have known each other since their days of growing up in Denver, CO. While attending high school in the late 80's they began writing and recording together under the name "The Pelicans".
In 1991, J.J. met Brad Carl while attending college. Although it took some time for their musical relationship to blossom, they eventually began to write songs together. They were also known to perform at university talent shows.
In 1995, J.J. moved back to Colorado and formed another musical duo with another childhood friend, Chris Gehrke. The two called themselves "Orphus". Their first recordings were a combination of original songs and covers. They titled this collection of songs "Dreamin'". One of the songs was actually co-written and sung by Todd. This song, titled "Many Beers Ago", became the cornerstone of what the band Orphus would become. Brad joined the band in 1996 and Todd, officially, in 1997. Chris has presently left the band to spend more time with his family.
These days, Orphus' songwriting has progressed into something that neither Todd, Brad, or J.J. could've ever imagined. Together the three are magic. Orphus' latest CD, "Map Of Hawaii", is undoubtedly their best effort to date. An amazing variety of serious and sarcastic songs, Orphus has learned to capture their listeners' attention, song after song after song. If you haven't heard any Orphus songs...you are definitely missing out on something very special.
