The band named Article of Faith formed in 1997 after renaming the existing and previously published band: Dress for Success (Maranatha Records: ""an e.p."", Produced by Kenneth Nash, ASCAP - distributed in Japan, Europe, UK and U.S. - as an IMPORT!). DFS was slowly evolving out of it's ""80's"" format into something a bit more musically relevent. While the band members remained intact, they set course for a full CD release. With the artful engineering expertise of Greg Freeman (formerly of The Call, and now: Pell Mell), and utilizing his production skills, created a notable effort. The band made frequent trips into San Francisco, recording early tracks in Greg's 'Lowdown Recording Studios'. To make way for right field in SBC Park, Greg was forced to look elswhere for recording space. Article of Faith finished their debut CD in Emeryville's Nady Studio and released the album on a limited basis in early 1999. The full production release was in Spring of 2000, and ""Everything"" was launched. The band began performing in a variety of venues, such as coffeehouses, bookstores - large auditoriums, as well as festival settings gaining popularity and industry buzz, along with some indie airplay and frequent downloads on mp3.com. The early success of mp3.com's promotional efforts, propelled the track ""Looking Out"" into NUMBER ONE status - outranking a King's X track in the Christian Metal category. AoF is actively recording their next project.
