Dear Mr. President,

Despite the cries of advocates from across the country to take the language out of an appropriations bill that would fund the inspection of horse slaughter plants and keep horse slaughterhouses closed down, it all fell on deaf ears when you signed into law the bill that did include that language. It won't be long now before the Horrific Screams of Our American Horses, and the conveyor belts of hell with the body parts of our American icons will begin to roll in states such as Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Georgia and Missouri, who have all been considering opening horse slaughter plants. I usually abstain from posting my political views, but, for me anyway...Mr. President, You Have Lost My Vote! Unless you immediately take action to stop this torturous legislation, you can be assured I will not be voting for you in 2012! You have reneged on your Campaign Promise to end Horse Slaughter for Human Consumption, I had to retire early because there are no jobs, and the economy is still in the toilet!

There is a petition currently circulating on Facebook to gather 250,000 signatures. PLEASE, Mr. President, PLEASE DO SOMETHING TO SAVE OUR HERITAGE...OUR AMERICAN HORSES NEED NOT ONLY OUR SUPPORT, BUT ALSO WE NEED YOURS ABOVE ALL!

Joe Willie (Pinetop) Perkins, blues musician, born 7 July 1913; died 21 March 2011~He was a 'disciple of all the solid pianists schooled in the rough training-grounds of the barrelhouses'. Grammy-winning blues pianist who played with Muddy Waters for 11 years. The blues pianist and singer Pinetop Perkins, who has died aged 97, was not only one of the oldest musicians in the blues community, but also still an active one, playing regularly in clubs around his home in Austin, Texas. Grammy-winning blues musician Willie "Big Eyes" Smith, who was a longtime sideman for Muddy Waters, died of a stroke on Friday in Chicago at age 75, according to a statement on his website. Smith's death comes less than six months after the passing at age 97 of blues master Joe Willie "Pinetop" Perkins, with whom Smith shared a Grammy win this year in the best traditional blues album category for their 2010 release "Joined at the Hip." Smith said backstage at the Grammy Awards that he first met Perkins as a boy and was glad to have found success recording with his elder. "To tell you the truth, right now I'm one of the happiest men on earth," he said at the February event. While the Grammy win at age 75 was Smith's first, he had previously had a long career playing with the late blues legend Muddy Waters.

Chicago Blues legend Hubert Sumlin has died at the age of 80. Best known for his work with Howlin' Wolf, his guitar playing has been characterized as "wrenched, shattering bursts of notes, sudden cliff-hanger silences and daring rhythmic suspensions" The New York Times describes Sumlin as "the guitarist whose slashing solos and innovative ideas galvanized the blues of Howlin’ Wolf and inspired rock guitar players like Jimmy Page, Robbie Robertson and Eric Clapton." Sumlin’s guitar playing was the perfect counterpart to Howlin’ Wolf on such classics as Smokestack Lightnin', Back Door Man, Spoonful and The Red Rooster. As the Times says, his "intuitive, empathetic accompaniment typically spurred his mentor to unpredictable and frenzied heights!
