In reality, though we choose not to think about it, we are living a "high-wire act". None of us knows what even the next moment will bring. The suspense and tension of this truth is captured in an improvisation. It's rhythms and timings are disorderly and unevenly dispensed. This is music only in as much as it is a means to an end... invoke feeling, evoke emotion, convey idea. No longer looked upon through the narrow lens of "music", it becomes what it is... a thing unique in and of itself. Nothing compares to that moment. It can NEVER be repeated. Any attempt at re-capturing the essence from a song so conceived is rooted in failure. Even an EXACT copy would be nothing more than "imitation"... a high form of flattery, yes... but the "Life"... that thing of "essence" will forever remain within that moment... that song's "becoming".

"NOW"ing!!
Metaphilosophical meanderings on the moment, "Now"... past and future are no things at all except relative to that one constant, "Now", which is the only time we ever have. No thing ever happens or happened outside of it. "Now" is nothing if not everything... now has it forever been... and now shall it ever be. -M-

Sun Hymn
I wrote this as a Hymn for the Sun. It was to be sung unto the sun while it's setting as a prayer for it's safe and sure return... or maybe, it could be a prayer for my own safe and sure return, such that I'd be able to see it again another day... -M-

Hola, Amigo! Thanks for your visit, Mort - it's a pleasure to see you out and about, even if only for a moment - have thought often during this round of kayak activity about your kind support last year, and remain grateful...and miss your regular presence around these parts, though it's nice that the tunes remain...hope you can find some time to join the general party before too much more time passes...hope you're well, and ROCK ONNNNNN!
:)

Strong words re patriotism. I realised that there was nothing wrong with the sentiment of the forefathers, but a terrible application of the ideals by modern politicians. You've probably heard that the Liberals in Australia are gone (and I mean GONE!). They were completely thrashed at the polls and the former Prime Minister became only the second leader in Aussie history to lose his local seat. Now we'll spend a decade reversing the destructive arrogance of a selfish party that somehow commanded a mandate. It's time to reverse the culture of selfishness that both our countries developed during the money-hungry years, if it's possible. On a musical note (pardon the pun) I'm lovin your tracks. You and X make a great team. It's among the most original music I've heard.
