Spank Momma   These songs won't be to everyone's taste, but I recommend listening to a track, chosen at random, at least twice - then pick another, again randomly, do the same - then go back to the first one - It worked for me, anyway

Our Mutual Friends   For fans of rock and acoustic alike, I'd say; if you like both, definitely worth a listen

The Rubrics   Here's a collection of songs that give the lie to the old joke about banjos and hand grenades, impeccably played with lyrics that are, by turns, witty, profound and revealing

John Kerruish   Superbly crafted songs, which sound like they've been marinated in a fine malt whisky for years

Ash   Short and oh so sweet, I can't believe I've been included on such a shortlist
