Biscuits and Bourbon
A very rough version of a song that I'm working on. I purchased a used Cigar Box Guitar (CBG) a coupla weeks back because it really intrigued me. It's an electric, 4-stringed, fretless, and a fabulous instrument. It was built by Ted Crocker and is called the Beale Street Busker. I've had it about 2 weeks and had to do some work to it to reinforce the bridge area and some other general maintenance.

Old Friend
I decided to write a little story about myself. A pure draft of a song idea I have, with very little mixing and EQing. It's definetly hard to condense all these years into a 4 minute song, but hey, I gave it a whirl. As the story line progresses, you'll see that I meet various "friends" new, music, kind, and eventually you become an "Old Friend" to me.

Break Time
A fun toon ! Purely goofin off on this one, no mixing or EQing. While tryin to figure out a riff on one of my songs, I did this song real quick as a fun toon for the guys in our band, Mother Mable.

Star Over Charlotte
This special melody was written for a friend of mine; This final version represents 5 months of work, involved 7 musicians, 4 of which I have never met. These musicians are superb and definetly added their flavor to the end result. We collaborated electronically.

Such A Fool
My first attempt at writing a blues toon. Written about a missed opportunity to make amends with the one you love. From our demo CD, performed with our band, Mother Mable; Terry Barbee on drums, Ken Barry on harp, Jim Edwards on bass, Jody Edwards on guitar and backup vox, Dennis Plyler on guitar, and myself on guitar and vocals. :)

Rustys' Song
Written and dedicated it to my late best friend, Rusty Kilgore, who passed away unexpectedly at the age of 50 in April 2005. I really miss him and his musical inspirations. I think best friends only come round once in life.

I Can't Let You Go
Blues tune with flavoring from Johnny Winters and Joe Bonamassa.
These folks are friends of mine and I not only enjoy their company, but their love for music and especially their drive to help their son, Jake, become involved in music and share his wonderful guitar playing talents with all of us. Jake is 12 years old and is a pleasure to listen to and jam with. He will go very far in his music endeavors.
This is their second original tune that John, Jake, and Wendy have collaborated on, ho

Hugh, thanx ! The Cigar Box is a wild instrument. I first had to find sum sort of tuning on it and then figure out how to play it. I'll rerecord Biscuits & Bourbon since this was just a rough cut of a work in progress song to get an idea of what it sounds like. Kinda funny, I need to record it and then listen back cuz I really have no idea of how it truly sounds while playin it.
I'll definetly check out your tunes also.....thanx very much !

Alrighty then, reuploaded all the songs on my artist page because IAC somehow dropped them all off. Added "Such A Fool", recorded on our band's Mother Mable demo CD. Added "Old Friend"..... it's draft material that I'm working on in the studio. Take care everyone !

The Blues Providers played at Hibernian Hall in Harrisburg NC on December 14th, 2007. The happy occassion was in tribute to Robert Macleod for his 60th birthday party. The band played very well and I know Robert and Janice had a great time, as did all of their guests. There was an abundance of dancers hitting the dance floor, including some great swing dancing being performed.
These guys are a well rounded blues band, fun to be around and I enjoyed every minute of the music that night. Their dedicated playing styles, from the rich and passionate bass that Chuck Cole plays to the extremely dependable and resonant drum rhythm's Dave Scercy provides. Ted Dillard is fantastic on guitar. He works diligently to provide different guitar leads on their songs, strong rhythm support, and lead/backup vocals to the bands foundation. Shannon Hill rounds out the overall sounds with his witty and inspirational talent for harmonica playing and his selection with different and distinctive vocals sounds, an attribute to crafting a sound all their own.
I recorded them onsite using 8 mics and a Roland VS2480. I used SM58's on the vox, GT55's for overheads, primarily aimed for the drums, the traditional and dependable SM57's for guitar and harmonica and a coupla MK319 room mics for overall ambience. We plugged the bass in direct. The tracks were mixed, panned, FX added, and mastered at B# Studios, Concord NC.
If you get a chance to check these guys out, please do so, as you will truly enjoy their sound and comradery.
Enjoy ! :)
