Born in 1948 and now in his third decade as a professional performing artist, E continues to nurture his passion for the Blues. This timeless genre is rooted in his psyche and his earliest memories of performing take him back to the age of four when he would sing at his grandmother’s kitchen table. Sometimes, he would perform solo, and she would toss a few coins at him in appreciation. And sometimes, they would hum and sing gospel tunes as a duet. Growing up in New York, he discovered his purpose and embraced the Blues with style, substance and integrity. At the age of 13, he was drawn to the sounds of Acoustic Blues, and got his first harmonica when he discovered Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee. In the 70s, 80s and 90s, he developed his singer/songwriting talents, as well as an aptitude for playing other instruments beautifully… His speciality was the blues harp. He established himself as a ground-breaking, harmonica player, and became a percussionist with Hodges, James and Smith (back in the early 70s) as well as a studio musician with Bolic Sound Studios, playing behind Ike and Tina Turner. He also played percussions on Sussex Records with Bobbi Hall behind Bill Withers. In the 80s, he moved to Chicago where he played with the likes of John Prine, Jo Mapes, and Joseph Jarman.

Whilst family and other commitments would interrupt his career, E always returned to his roots in blues and 2000 saw the release of his second album, The First Time Out, an extraordinary recording that was an eclectic mix of ten original compositions comprising of Blues, R&B, Jazz, Delta and Gospel. It revealed just how well E could push the boundaries of traditional Blues, and transcend the Urban Blues idiom.

E RE-INVENTS HIMSELF

It’s worth mentioning here that when E laid down an acoustic guitar track on Talkin’ To The Air... (on the Southern Style: Blues Sessions album) he hadn't taken his guitar out of the box for over 20 years. He laid down another track for Yellow Dress (a song inspired by the love between his grandparents), and found that he had “come home” to his acoustic guitar, practising every day for sometimes up to fourteen hours. In 2002, E hit his stride, adding his exceptional harmonica skills and powerful vocals to the mix. He delivers charismatic, compelling, and passionate performances that are charged with emotion and filled with his authentic signature style. Always experimenting with new sounds, he sometimes makes bold, daring renditions of obscure tunes of legendary icons such as Robert Johnson, Howlin’ Wolf, Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker, adding his unique spin to them. This songwriter has evolved into an eclectic and captivating storyteller through Acoustic Blues, revealing a profound understanding of where this music comes from and why it stands the test of time.

2006 was a creative year for E, what with three albums released and building his own record label, Black Owl Music. Southern Style: Blues Sessions showcases the range of his vocals, using his voice as an incredibly multi-faceted instrument to create sounds and moods that are distinctly innovative and truly inspiring. Mississippi Reminiscence is the most personal of his work, and Five Long Years: A Tribute to Carey Bell has been hailed as sheer unadulterated blues.

E now performs exclusively as a solo acoustic artist touring throughout the United States and Europe, appearing in blues, jazz clubs, coffee houses, house concerts, theatres, and festivals.

Lonesome Road
In my opinion, it is only a matter of time before Hugh Hamilton reaches commercial success as a singer, songwriter and musician. Hugh provided me one of the greatest compliments recently by asking if I would cover one of his original compositions, "Lonesome Road," written in 2004. I cannot understand why it took so long to pull this great song off the shelf, but I am happy that when it did happen, Hugh was kind and gracious enough to ask this old bluesman to record it. You Just Can't Smile It Away
E puts a soulful and unmistakably personal spin on Bill Wither's "You Just Can't Smile It Away". There are certain songs that really stand out and there are songs that haven't necessarily been heard by a lot of people... this is one that definitely should be heard.

Southern Style: Blues Sessions
For years vocalist-guitarist-harp player E has been bringing new lifeblood to the blues via his dual knockout talents. And while his later recordings reveal a consistently maturing artist, this 2006 debut album shows that the New York native had the goods right from the get-go. E sings with honesty, subtlety, and persuasion while playing the guitar and harp with head-shaking authority, both as accompanist--he offers amazing asides in between vocal phrases--and as an absolutely A-one impro

Mississippi Reminiscence
Mississippi Reminiscence begins with "Long Distance Call," a Muddy Water's Classic, and continues with "Rock Me," and "Hallelujah I Love Her So." The 10-track Mississippi Reminiscence is far and away the most stark and deeply personal work of his career. Songs like "Graduation Day" invite his audience to catch a glimpse of his own inner self. E also tackles three classics of the blues' idiom, "Sittin' On Top of the World," "I Ain't Superstitious" and "Voodoo Man" reinvent

Children's Classics... Time Honored Classics
What better way to introduce a new generation to the timeless genre of Blues and Folk music? Here are classic nursery rhymes that have been spun with the magic of the Blues singer and songwriter, E. These timeless narratives draw from a huge array of fantasy, nature and the cycles of life. They contain allegorical messages of facing challenges, and of never giving up on one's self. Musically, they will keep children entertained on the longest rainy days.
