A New Commerce Solution at IAC
Greetings IAC Artists,
As part of the changes affecting a number of areas of the site, we wanted to call your attention to a new system for dealing with artist song download sales, virtual album ("DMD") sales, and CD sales at IAC.
Available and suggested now, and as will be required after a transition period ending June 28, artists wishing to do commerce must maintain a PayPal account and supply the associated PayPal email address to IAC via the form available by clicking on "Payment Profile" on the Artist Area page. Doing so will result in the dynamic generation of PayPal buttons for download sales, and soon for CD sales and DMD sales. These buttons will appear every time someone views the artist pages, CD pages or DMD pages. On artist pages, of course the buttons will only be displayed next to those songs the artist has chosen to make available for download sales.
The PayPal Buy Now buttons will then direct funds from the buyer directly into the artist's own PayPal account. The artist gets paid instantly, IAC takes no commission nor would it handle the artist's funds at any time during the transaction.
We are happy to accept download sales, DMD and CD sales into our own existing PayPal and Google Checkout accounts during a transition period ending June 28, 2011. Funds collected during this period will become part of the clearing payout of all artist balances on June 30. After the transition, artists wishing to do direct commerce for single song download sales and sales of CDs and DMDs will need their own PayPal account and will need to supply the associated email address to IAC.
Besides setting up a PayPal account (at no cost) and supplying that information to IAC on the form provided in the Payment Profile section on the Artist Area page, there is nothing else the artist has to do to enable commerce besides simply setting song prices and availability (and/or creating digital albums or listing CDs) though the IAC-provided forms.
IAC believes that it will be beneficial and better serve artists to have on site commerce of their song download sales and the sale of their CDs and DMDs being managed and controlled by themselves.

Sounds brilliant - are you saying we only have to supply the email address of our existing Paypal accounts if we have one?

Yes, you only have to supply the PayPal email address and that causes sales you make from downloads to go directly into your PayPal account.
To register your PayPal email address, click on "Payment Profile" at the bottom of the left column on your Artist Area page.
