CEO Message to IAC general membership
CEO Message to IAC general membership, March 9, 2011

With us closing in on week one of KIAC Media, LLC having taken the reins at IACMusic.com, I wanted to take this opportunity to speak to the membership and to hopefully reassure all of my commitment to not only follow through with what was outlined in our Pipeline Announcement of March 5th and to express my sincere thanks and appreciation for the many kind words of support, confidence and trust that have been voiced during the past few days – words that are greatly appreciated and respected.

As I have seemingly been prone to do from time to time, from where I stood a month or two ago IACMusic.com appeared to be at a fork in the road. Again, I saw it, and took it. With the site being such an important and valuable medium for so many artists and after much consideration of reassuring myself that I would be able to continue to effectively manage my other responsibilities, the next step was to circle the wagons so to speak and give it my best shot at making it work. And here we are.

There has been a lot of ground covered in a relatively short period of time in the weeks leading up to and since the transition to KIAC Media, LLC was completed. We have made a start, slow perhaps, but steady and focused. We have barely just begun. Further to the Announcement made earlier in the week, more is being worked on, being planned, reviewed and under consideration to bring IACMusic.com back to its roots and on the road to its future in a professional and businesslike manner. As well as already having initiated other steps and programs to improve and strengthen IAC Music we have now completed programming requirements in preparation for the launch of IAC 3.0.

In getting us to this point in such short order my thanks goes out to Dave Walton who has worked closely, tirelessly and diligently with me throughout the recent negotiations that took place prior to the takeover of IACMusic.com and related entities by KIAC Media, LLC as well as completing the subsequent work that has taken place to date. Many thanks and much appreciation is also in order to Bam Singh and to the support staff who continue to work tirelessly behind the scenes often with little if any recognition for all they do in trying to stay on top of glitches that occur from time to time on the site as well as implementing new changes and responding to artist’s questions and concerns. The continued assistance and support of Dave, Bam and all the support staff will be instrumental in us making further progress and implementing new programs in the weeks and months ahead for the benefit of all concerned.

As well as being a grand world stage for us as artists to express, share and further develop our passion and for listeners to have a chance to listen to some of the best indie music being offered to the world as well as them having the opportunity to meet the artists and musicians behind the music, beyond all that IACMusic.com is also a business. My approach from my position at KIAC Media, LLC is to see that first and foremost it functions as such and in a professional manner. I also know that teamwork is one of the main ingredients of a winning formula whether on the playing field or in the boardroom. I make no bones about stating that I'm in it to win it for everyone involved.

In moving forward, your input, comments, questions and suggestions will be welcomed, listened to, appreciated and respected. Directing same to the support staff will best insure that they appropriately get addressed and considered. And while I did not intend within this message to speak directly to steps that we have taken to date, the implementation of a new membership structure and particularly the Annual Maintenance Fee – albeit a relatively nominal fee on an individual basis but meaningful in total – are prime examples of the necessity to address the realities of it being far from a perfect and non-changing world for anyone let alone a business that like each of us is faced with continually and ever rising costs and expenses causing us to having to dig in and better manage our affairs in a way that offers the best prospect of remaining solvent as well as providing the means for growth, success and survival into the future.

Notwithstanding my involvement as an artist/member at IAC Music for the past four years as well as my commitment to my band and to co-vocalist Paula Tessaro on our respective two Artist Pages, as CEO of KIAC Media, LLC and while acknowledging there being two masters to be served here – shareholders of KIAC Media, LLC and all artist/members at IACMusic.com, I am sure that my interest and objective reflects the interest and objective of each and every shareholder and artist/member and that is to see IAC Music better serve artists and listeners and to strengthen and position itself for future growth.

From where I stand I see more than light at the end of the tunnel, and while it may not all come about easily nor without a few stumbles here and there along the way which I shall endeavor to minimize, I believe that in front of us lies a better and brighter future ahead for IAC. That's neither a guarantee nor a promise that I or anyone alone can deliver. And while we may all not agree from time to time on matters at hand or on steps taken, given the opportunity and with your support, patience and understanding my goal in both the short and long term would be to see it achieved and fulfilled.

With a steady and firm hand on the challenge and responsibility that I have accepted in my new role and that lie ahead, and further to my efforts to push onward and forward with the best interests of all current and future artist/members at IAC as my guiding principle, at the beginning and end of each day, I shall still just be – as was said in a rewarding comment posted two days ago on the Artist Page for myself and my band – “one of us”. I will be proud and honoured to always be so.

Thank you.

Neil w Young

It's nice to hear such an earnest and forthright statement from IAC leadership. In the past, I was never sure who, where or what was running IAC. Now I can put a face to the name. Thanks, Neil!

Just a quick note with my sincere thanks and appreciation to you Lance and Bob and Chandra for your combined words of encouragement and support of the efforts and steps taken thus far to get IACMusic.com on track and headed in the right direction - forward and upward for the benefit of all artists and members.

Along with the vision and plans for improving and strengthening the site, first and foremost on my agenda is to see that IACMusic.com functions in a responsible, accountable, transparent and professional manner.

My thanks to each of you for your active involvement, contribution and presence on the site, and thank you for your music. It really is about the music.

"Old School" is good. From day one I knew Neil has the honesty and the right ideas to make this place work. A "gentlemans handshake" is all you need. At the turn of the last century that meant a lot. To this day, a mans word is as good as gold, and I myself live by that sentiment. This century it's feast or famine, and I still believe a mans word is as good as gold........... the reputation preceeds a persons actions and reactions.

Lead on my friend............

Thank you Rob (SilverwoodStudio) for your vote of confidence and trust, and for the friendship that we have shared and that you have faithfully extended to include Paula and the band in our mutual relationship - clear evidence that you know, value and appreciate that success of any kind is built not only on trust and confidence, but on teamwork as well.

My thanks also to Duane, Andy and Todd for your kind words regarding the new commerce initiative that we have introduced and for allowing us the time and privilege to methodically plan and implement changes and improvements to the site that we believe will be beneficial for everyone at IAC.

I trust that we come close to meeting the hopes and expectations of everyone. You can be rest assured that many capable hands are working diligently by my side behind the scenes each and every day - and well into the evening most nights.

Sincerely,
Neil
