Yes, it's an honest-to-gosh protest song. Melodic, with a strong chorus - a little biased - and shades of Counting Crows, The Beatles, Bruce Hornsby, Todd Rundgren, Hootie and the Blowfish, 60's folk-soul-rock. But I wouldn't necessarily call it retro.

Piano and vocal: David Nyro
Bass: Marc Miller
Drums: Sean Lane
Engineer: Jakael Tristram

This song was written in a moment of rage, inspired by the atrocities of the Syrian war and ISIS. There's a lot more to the story of what happened after I wrote and recorded this song, but we'll save that for another time...
Stand
© 2015 by David Nyro

Sister, Brother
I’ve never known another
Father, Mother; from you,
I learned to love the world

Lessons learned
Always believed to be returned
Childhood burned
Inside a mem’ry of another world

Sometimes we have to say: this will not stand!
Sometimes a blood lines drawn in the sand
There comes a time to rise and take a stand, hand in hand!

Flags, half-staff
Cowards unmasked
Knives that flash
Blinding tears around the world

Sometimes we have to say: this will not stand!
Sometimes a blood lines drawn in the sand
There comes a time to rise and take a stand, hand in hand!

How far will it go?
How much do we simply accept.
I can’t forget when I heard the news
This is a fight we must not lose
Oo o o o O o o o O o o o O o o o o

Sister, Brother; all of you are mine
And all of you are me
Until the end of time

Sometimes we have to say: this will not stand!
Sometimes a blood lines drawn in the sand
There comes a time to rise and take a stand, hand in hand!
Sometimes we have to say: this will not stand!
Sometimes a blood lines drawn in the sand
There comes a time to rise and take a stand
Don’t run away
Don’t run away
Don’t run away
Don’t run away
Don’t run away
Don’t run away
Don’t run away
Don’t run away
Don’t
Don’t

Groovy and 60's Style
To me you are kind of like a modern day John Lennon. You might even say that is a bigger "shout-out" than my Moody Blues comment! The Moodies and then The Beatles top My All-Time Pre-90's Bands. I have a second category which is Post-90's which is ongoing. After hearing just a handful of your songs, you will be in the Top 10 of that, I promise!
