An acoustic song dedicated to the late Anne Bancroft, who was best known for her role as the seductive Mrs. Robinson in the movie The Graduate.

Written and produced by The Tonics

Who is that standing round
Who is that giving sense
To a blind and deaf and angry lonely girl
Wondering
"Ooh what is love?" you washed her hands
And saw her lips remain untouched
Love is two in one
Goodbye Annie Sullivan

Who was that standing round
While he was growing up
And who seduced a world that's looking for
A passion
Swept down those icy clouds above
Showed us the way to stay corrupt
Like a loaded gun
Goodbye Mrs. Robinson

These are the things you've given us
Red visions of that sensual trust
You made us dangerous
Goodbye from your graduate

Very very pretty song filled with that elusive 60s spirit..The kind of haunting, life affirming happy sad evocativeness that was so prevalent in 60s music but is (sadly) so scarce now

HACKS!!
Very very pretty song filled with that elusive 60s spirit..The kind of haunting, life affirming happy sad evocativeness that was so prevalent in 60s music but is (sadly) so scarce now..Such a refreshing joy to hear a track like this amongst all the terminally cold, mediocre corporate modern rock chancers that i've just unfortunately assaulted my ears with here on I.A.C..Many thanks guys for the great vibes..:)..............From 'AlTeRnAtIvE ReTrO aNd PsYcHeDeLiC'

Harmony central where simon and garfunkel used to meet

Yes,of course it sounds like Simon and Garfunkel(its meant to),but it sounds like a great Simon and Garfunkel song with all the beautiful melancholic spacious spirit intact-not merely a poor copy....That generous mood and sound is related in peoples minds to the 60s,but in reality is timeless and always worth celebrating..Trust us on that..

IAC Songchain..
The Tonics...Elegy for Anne Bancroft....I loved this song..brilliant harmonies and great guitar break between the verses..practically transported me back to the 60's,although i was still only knee high to a grasshopper...this is a beautiful tribute to a great actress and a very cleverly crafted song that could have seamlessly been woven into "The Graduate" soundtrack.............The Great Indoors

A Song A Day
Sept 11th 2008.....Its weird,in my alternate universe i see this as a classic psychefolk song everyone knows and loves -It just sounds like its always been around.Maybe i love it so much because THe Graduate might well be my favourite film of all time-Tucked in amongst all those timeless, melancholic Simon and Garfunkel soundtrack songs, this would fit perfectly on every level, qualitively and atmospherically..What a beautifully elegant title too.. 'ELEGY for Anne Bancroft'-i could love it just for that! The lyrics are so naturally poetic, imaginative and suggestive as well, creating all that space to open up your imagination..DElightful track.........................."Had to add the Anne Bancroft tune. Great choices Steve..."(LACE)

What the Folk!
Whoa,,,,what talent....great harmonies a finely crafted well woven song.....
