TENDERHEART
HOLLOW SHELL

You’re gonna laugh
You’re gonna laugh out loud at what I have to say
I got this kindred spirit in this place so far away
My common sense has almost gone
My sanity’s deserted me
I test the boundaries of this so delicate reality

I sit here thinking on it
Pondering on just what I would do
If she should up and vanish check on out and disappear
If all the laughter and the loving hung there seemingly unreal
A love untried untested in the world outside this inner sphere

| think that I I think I know that I would slowly shrivel up
If I believed that I should never wind up next to her
Run it on down send me those frowns
You just don’t see the light I see
If it went out I’d feel forever lame I’d go to ground

I think that I I think I know that I would wither as in hell
Withdraw once more to that resigned and silent hollow shell
The days again grey without end this heart I know would never mend
If what we’ve found should never reach attain its rightful end

I would be crushed I would be shattered
Would know not know just what to do
If I should learn this union was never meant to be
The both of us have rashly thrown ten kinds of caution to the wind
Testing the bounds of this diffuse and frail reality

| think that I I think I know that I would slowly shrivel up
If I believed that I would never wind up next to her
Run it on down send me those frowns
They just don’t see the light I see
If it went out I’d be forever lame I’d go to ground

I think that I I think I know that I would wither as in hell
Withdraw once more to that resigned and silent hollow shell
The days again grey without end this heart I know would never mend
If what we’ve found should never reach attain its rightful end
