Around the year 2002 Jimmy got a call one day from his longtime friend and now bandmate Outlaw Mike (Dennis) about finding his 45rpm vinyl record he recorded in 1986 with "Dreams" of a boy on the "A" side and "My Grandfather's Home" on the "B" side in an Antique shop in Junction City, WI. Jimmy asked Mike how much were they asking and Mike said $0.50 and Jimmy asked Mike if he bought and Mike replied "no" he had not since Jimmy gave him two copies years before that. Jimmy replied to Mike you cheapskate what am I "The Has-Been (That Never Was)" lol! Later that day Jimmy was talking to his friend Harry Hamm and mention the incident with the record and Mike. This resulted in Harry and Jimmy writing the song.
