Not an Improv, although it was inspired by a very early improv. The original lyrics came from the King James. I created a drum track and used some of my prose for the middle section, dubbing in some Gregorian Chanting. William played an acoustic guitar through a power amp which we then re-mic'd for the distortion effect during the beginning and middle portions of the song.

This song came to me at William's dinner table one day. I jotted it down immediately in about five minutes. My only musical contributions were in suggestions to William during recording. We still had no electric guitars or keyboard at this time.(not an improv)

The Plan
Bill was playing guitar and singing, "Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field". As he sang this over and over I wrote the rest of the lyrics... probably took about 15 minutes. We used to call this song "Victorious Satan", but I changed the title when I catagorized it in the 'Christian/Spiritual' genre.(not an improv)

Not an Improv! I decide to write a song describing the Fool card from the Aleister Crowley Book of Thoth Tarot Deck. This took all of ten minutes. We did an improv with me on bass and William on guitar, singing. In re-doing this song I refused to play my bass line because I knew William could do it SO MUCH better. Obviously it was the right decision.

Probably my fourth, on purpose, attempt at songwriting, and this time I even "wrote" the music(vocalizing sounds to William who would then play and sing everything). We had no electric guitar or keyboard. When I later bought a Boss drum machine, Kenny Maye, performed the drum track, which he never finished. Luckily it was half way through and I was able to repeat the whole thing to complete the song. I'm sure Kenny would have made it more enjoyable if he'd finished it himself though. He's truly an excellent drummer.
