Art in America
"Art in America", music,songs, has just released a new album. "Hentschel Sessions-2013" is now available for purchase on various internet sites including iTunes, Amazon, etc.. Tracks 1 - 6 on this album were produced by world famous producer David Hentschel (Genesis, Queen, Elton John, George Harrison, Yellowjackets, Carly Simon, Andy Summers, etc). This new album features the original Art in America line-up with the addition of Tony Levin on bass guitar and Chapman Stick.
Art in America, 1st album was re-released by Renaissance Records on May 15 2008. Original release date was 1984. Still available for purhcase at Amazon, iTunes, Google Play, etc.
I am using IAC as a depository for old and new AIA demos, as well as a few of the Eddy Offord produced tracks and some "live-in concert" recordings.
Art in America was the first rock band to feature a string harpist playing a full Lyon & Healy pedal string harp. AIA garnered considerable airplay and MTV video play when the album was released. AIA then toured in support of the album, headlining and opening for bands such as: U2, Split Enz, Roxy Music, Bill Bruford, Captain Beefheart, King Crimson and Steve Hackett.

The Innocence Project was founded in 1992 to assist prisoners who could be proven innocent through DNA testing. To date, more than 300 people in the United States have been exonerated by DNA testing, including 18 who served time on death row. These people served an average of 13 years in prison before exoneration and release.

In Your Dreams
Barry Wedgle wasn't born with a guitar in his hands, but he soon made up for that lapse by the time he was 12, he was leading his own band & playing around his hometown, Denver, Colorado. Like many players who grew-up in the sixties & later moved into jazz, Barry was greatly influenced by Jimi Hendrix. But between Jimi & jazz, Barry listened to and mastered many different styles to be categorized. For example, his flamenco playing was good enough to tour extensively in Spain, Mexico, Central & South America. for people who know the real deal.
When he first hit New York he spent considerable time jamming and running around the city with another player, Pat Metheny. He returned to Denver to record his first album, Kake, featuring Collin Walcott, Paul McCandless & Jay Clayton. When other artists heard him they remembered the frizzy haired, out going guitarist. Harry Belafonte flew him to Toronto for a concert. Allen Ginsberg asked him to accompany readings. Taj Mahal invited him on stage at New Morning, in Paris. He recorded at Mount Fuji with the popular Japanese Rolling Club Band.
Wedgles real love has remained jazz, and hes paid his dues to establish himself in that form, touring through Europe with Sam Rivers and Steve Lacy, having done three recordings with Steve and maintaining both a duo-concert & recording relationship. Bouncing between Europe, the U.S., Japan and South America, Barry continues gigging and recording with other top shelf performers, Mal Waldron, John Hicks, and Joe Lee Wilson, to name a few.

elissa Lynn Marquais (pronounced /'mar-kay/ born December 14, 1977) is an American musician, singer-songwriter and recording artist. Born and raised on Long Island, she performed at many popular venues in New York such as the Apollo Theatre, before moving to Nashville, Tennessee in 2004, where she refined her skills and learned of her late Grandfathers trials and triumphs as a famous composer in the 1950's. Her Grandfather, Ernest G. Schweikert and Lyricist Frank Reardon wrote for the likes of Billie Holiday, Sammy Davis Jr., Guy Lombardo, Carmen MaCrae, The Four Aces, Perry Como, Frnk Sinatra, etc. Having not received any of the royalties owed to him, Ernest became so disheartened and angry that he threw away all of the musical compositions he had ever written and never spoke of it again.
In 2004, Melissa's Grandmother, Norma, extracted a promise from her Granddaughter to find her late husbands lost compositions. Norma passed away the next day completely unexpected and so it was that Melissa's journey truly began. She has since found hundreds of songs her Grandfather and Frank wrote together and has focused her attention on bringing new life to the beautiful music they left behind.

Melissa has taken what was originally written as a Broadway show tune and simplified it to a basic piano/vocal that is heavy on the heart but very easy on the ears. Lyrically and musically this song is a perfect marriage and Marquais vocals only seal the deal. A song about being grateful to lose love just to have had the opportunity to love so much in the first place. Another masterpiece by Schweikert and Reardon.

Sheli Aarden-Monacchio is writing songs from a place that she hadn’t yet discovered on her debut release, Digging For Daylight. On her follow up effort, Kansas, she has a feet and her pen firmly planted on confident ground and is writing the types of songs that she was always meant to write. Songs that breathe with a no fear, confessional tone, that give the listener a crystal clear picture of exactly what she is trying to bring across with each and every song. Kansas is the album that she has been working toward, since she first graced the New Jersey coffee house circuit in 2004. The Robbinsville, NJ resident has been burning the candle at both ends, not only with the April 2011 release of Kansas, but by following it up six months later with a collaboration project with her husband, Keith Monacchio, aptly titled The Monacchios – Wedding Album. It’s more than a bit of an understatement to say the this girl has been busy.
Sheli Aarden-Monacchio has been a fixture on the NJ “coffee house” circuit since 2004. She has multiple Asbury Music & JAM (Jersey Acoustic Musician) award nominations to her credit. This year saw her pick up an award for Best Folk Act for her Monacchios offshoot project. Branching out of the regular circuit of music haunts, Aarden-Monacchio is playing anywhere and everywhere to make sure as many ears as possible hear her music. There may be “a storm approaching”, but Sheli Aarden-Monacchio’s Kansas, sounds like the work of a woman who is writing with the clarity of the clearest sky and a future that is brimming with possibility.

The tunes from the new Somewhere CD encompass a blend of rock, blues, folk and roots music, seasoned with pop sensibilities. Neil's musical depth and diversity and bluesy guitar undertones have often been compared to Eric Clapton and although Neil has always been a big Clapton fan, any resemblance is through osmosis and not by design. Neil's world-class vocals have been compared to Paul Carrack, Paul Rogers, Van Morrison, Sam Cooke and a plethora of traditional R&B, soul singers.
Whether solo or with a band, Neil is well known for his relaxed audience rapport and engaging, passionate performances. Neil can often be found playing in his hometown of White Rock, BC, and although he is very grateful for the support from the local venues he is looking forward to performing more full-on shows where the music is the focus. To that end, Neil will be taking his show into Vancouver and throughout western BC and is also planning more extensive touring in the near future

On 22nd February 2011, the city of Christchurch was staggered by a 6.3 magnitude earthquake which demolished much of the town centre, trapping many people in buildings, demolishing iconic buildings, killing many in the streets with falling rubble.
Many of the citizens have left town as the aftershocks continue-this song is a call of hope for those who call Christchurch home!

Paul groover started in 1995 as Saul groover for a charity gig in local drinking hole.I was experimenting with electronic music on a amiga computer so i thought i would try it out live it went down with a mixed response.I suppose nobody had tried to do it this way at that time so they were not prepared for it.After that day i knew i was heading in the right direction for me.I joined iuma in 2000 and released over 30 songs on iuma over a 3 year time line.With a very good reponse especially from the States and Canada as i was doing a lot of rap hiphop breakbeat and dnb. My music was going in a different direction from the commercial side when iuma went pop.So i went underground for 2 years experimenting with some fresh ideas.Trying to create my own freedom of expression and identity

HunkaFunk was formed in 1998 by Tim and Michele Franklin. We were formed in Friday Harbor, mainly with Michele and Tim and local Friday Harbor musicians. In the Summer of 1998 HunkaFunk played at "Herb's Tavern" for the cast and crew of the movie "Practical Magic". In the audience were; Nicole Kidman, Sandra Bullock, Aidan Quinn, Stockard Channing, Goran Visnjic, Matthew MacCaunaghy, to name just a few. After the gig, HunkaFunk was asked to play the "wrap" party but had to decline because they were already booked on that date at the China Pearl across the street and have been playing steady gigs there for years!
Thanks Charles Thomas and Tori Patterson! HunkaFunk played regular gigs for nine years at: The China Pearl, Herbs Tavern, The Legion hall, Electric Company, Lopez Islander resort, And a 6 year stint at Roche Harbor Resort (Madrona room). In 2002 we recorded our first EP (Don't Hide it, Divide it) at Paradise Sound Recording in Index, Washington (Thanks Pat Sample!), and Duck Soup Studios in Friday Harbor.

In 2010 the band entered Rising Son Studios in Nolanville, TX with world renowned producer Roy Z (Judas Priest, Halford, Bruce Dickinson, Sebastian Bach, Sepultura, etc) to lay down tracks for what was to be their most powerful album to date, Life Of Lies. The sextet came in contact with Roy Z through a series of events, "We had (Virgin Records consultant) Scott Frazier come out and scout us before we recorded Life of Lies," says Akira. "Scott said we needed a hit song and to generate some buzz for the labels to take interest and suggested we check out a band called Downset who was produced by Roy Z. We were working with Maor Applebaum, who was mastering a demo for us at the time.. We mentioned Downset and Maor said he knew Roy Z. He put us in contact with him and we sent him some demos and he agreed to work with us. He ended up flying in to record a song we had just written that was very radio friendly and at the time we thought it was a great launching song. We recorded "MySpace Police" but to our dismay, MySpace fell and Facebook rose making the song irrelevent but started the writing process for Life of Lies.

Andrea Hernandez has been writing and singing her songs since she was a teenager on the Bristol music scene.
After more than 10 years of stumbling around incongruously blubbing and disintegrating whilst playing at the various open mic nights in Bristol and London (where she neither tamed her nerves nor banished her desire to perform), Andrea and her childhood pal Guitarist & Orchestral French Horn player Greg Phillips (Boxcar Aldous Huxley) spent a number of years gently reworking her loosely formed songs and started playing gigs in and around Bristol. Andrea took the songs to New York sharing a bill with Paleface and Eric 'Freight Train' Adams (Satchel Jones) as well as going to Wales to do a gig with SL Macombie. She has supported amongst others, Morning Star (Jesse D Vernon), Patrick Duff (Strangelove), War Against Sleep, John E Vistic, Rasha Shaheen, Emily Breeze as well as Nik Young, Jokate Benson and Bimbo Spam. In 2003, Andrea played at Ladyfest, she has also appeared onstage at Ashton Court Festival twice - once with the The Legendary Moonflowers in 1990 and then in around 2005 she drunkenly stepped out of the audience to dance for Gravenhurst during an acoustic song.

"My life today is much different than I envisioned it to be while living home in Troy (AL). After becoming a music director at a church, I would have thought that would have been it. I wanted more, and I thought my relocation to Fayetteville (NC) and playing at a mega church would have satisfied what I was longing to accomplish, but I then moved to NY and God has continued to bless me in all that I do by expanding my exposure to life and music."
Music has always been the driving force for this young musician; from the age of 14 Drea has been accompanying her first artist, her dad in her home state of Alabama. The church prepared her in her gift of songwriting, performing, and production as she has worked with countless choirs, groups, and independent gospel artists. While her dad, Artis Baxter remains to be her favorite singer to work with, Drea has played for Grammy nominated gospel songwriter Becky White, Dorothy Norwood, Kennedy Atkinson former MD of Arrested Development, and many others. While the lyrics may be different from what you hear today, Drea brings along her gospel jazz chords which will always be her signature.
Looking to diversify her style Drea began playing with a rock band after arriving to Long Island, NY in 2004. She then took things a step further and continued her education for the first time formally studying music, at the prestigious Boston University School of Music to achieve her Doctorate in Music Education.

It all started in grade 5 when "The Jansen 5" exploded into and out of the music scene - all
in one day! It was an air-band with a shot at glory in the annual talent contest. They lost - the band broke up.
Grade 6 was different. Featuring a full rock band called "Venus" with 3 guitars, drums, bass, and Rob singing lead vocals - it was a real band this time and that set the stage for the many years to come of writing, recording and playing live music.
Many other bands followed: "Midweek Krisis" in 1984, "Moving Target" in 1988. "Target" would play for several years at local venues and attended the 1990 Juno Awards.
2001 saw the release of an independent debut CD which garnered radio airplay with the anthem
"Rock Star" and "I Miss My Friend". Many tracks on this CD were welcomed as Robert became one of the top downloaded Canadian artists on mp3.com.
2005 was the return to the live music scene with cover band "One Atom12" playing energetic rock shows at local venues and corporate concerts.
2008-2010 Back to writing and recording for the latest release "Long Story Short" which has
already been well received with the lead track: "I Found You".
Robert's music is known to be quite varied in styles and influences with the likes of the Beatles, Def Leppard, Blink 182, Cheap Trick and even ABBA can be heard throughout the songs.

The dynamic voice of Julie Dexter was first heard in 1997 on Dune Records’ release of J-Life, a UK group formed by Gary Crosby and led by Jason Yarde, that sought to invigorate the public concept of Jazz as a dying tradition. While this debut recording showcased original instrumental compositions and stirring renditions of jazz standards, it also contained a swinging cover of Loose Ends’ hit song “Gonna Make You Mine”, which amply featured the soulful croon of Julie Dexter. Julie gained her chops for cutting her vocals on this record by touring several continents with jazz wunderkind Courtney Pine as a lead vocalist of his ensemble. This musical school of tough-love learning would also give her the confidence to begin to perform and record as a solo artist, garnering the seven song EP, Peace of Mind (2000) and then later the full-length recordings, Dexterity (2002), and Conscious (2005) all of which were independently released on her own label, Ketch A Vibe Records. Currently Julie is recording her new album The Julie Dexter Collection (2008) with new managing/partners Real Fellas Management. For the past seven years Julie Dexter has spent the millennium sharing the stage with this generation’s cutting-edge soul artists, including Jill Scott, Bilal, Amel Larrieux, Donnie, Omar Loose Ends, Jaguar Wright, Rachelle Ferrell, Ledisi, Frank McCoomb, Eric Roberson, Raheem DeVaughn and Fertile Ground, to name a few. While Julie Dexter is more than able to hold up against her peers, her music has also been praised by them. The Black Line
Half songwriter and half classical musician, Lee is a genuine and compelling performer, a skilled guitarist, and able to deliver both intensity and nuance in her live shows. In other words: she sounds good, plays good, and looks good doing it.
Lee's original songs show many influences, from the Beatles and Elvis Costello to Johnny Cash and Lucinda Williams. Her first album, "Do You Think?", recorded in a shotgun house (now deceased) in the Lower Ninth Ward, was self-released in February 2004 and is available online at iTunes and CDbaby.com.
In 2005 a hurricane named Katrina forced Lee to relocate from New Orleans to Nashville, Tennessee, where she appears regularly around town, including the famous Bluebird Cafe Writers Night.
In 2007 Lee unveiled a batch of new songs called "Songs For Refugees," written and recorded in the wake of Hurricane Katrina and largely in the throes of despair. But not all of the songs are funny.
In 2008 Lee posted a collection of songs titled "I Wandered (I Wondered)," featuring hippy-dippy-trippy-trancy-poppy songs for groovy moods. Perfect for 4:20 in the afternoon.

He is also proficient in a variety of hardware consoles, Digital Recorders and an assortment of rack mount gear.

Sylvia is a believer. in addition to that, she is a deadhead, singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, a hospice worker and a yoga teacher who lives with two kitties and a bunny in Oakland, California.
Sylvia's lyrics are central to her creative expression, but she is an interesting guitarist as well, with a unique style of rhythm. she also does arrangements of her favorite rock and roll tunes on cello, such as in Terrapin Station, the Hunter/Garcia tune that appears on release the medicine.
Sylvia also demonstrates skill in crafting mellow songs with finger-style guitar. She writes poetry that gets to know you as you get to know it, often shape-shifting its colors and textures, suddenly shouting loudly when you thought you had heard a whisper the last time.

I have taken down most of my older recordings. I plan to add new versions of old songs as well as new material that I will be working on in the coming months. It's all stripped down and much of it is recorded live with only some multi-tracking here and there- nothing to hide! Demo quality to be sure, but with all my heart and soul in every song!

Their tracks do not alienate nor exclude listeners. The band's approach has become to create a common ground, and taking everything into consideration…mission accomplished.
Their discography is evidence of this. Day of Hollow, their 2003 release, reveals a harder edged flair, but as the band evolved, they dipped into the alt-pop scene on 2006's Cross the Line. While both releases were regional successes and garnered industry attention, these talented musicians realized they needed to solidify their sound, merging the rock with the pop, and the result is a revitalized and innovative style sure to put this band on the map outside of their home base. One listen to tracks such as "It's My Life" and "Too Late" exemplify this new direction, and it cannot be denied that this band has taken all of their collective experience and grown into a force to be reckoned with inside the musical arena. littleSUNDAY is currently poised to release their new compositions to CD to be released this October 23rd, and there is no doubt that their upcoming release will shatter stereotypes and increase their already growing fan base

Eddison balance the old with the new: an abrasive punk edge with a love for sound experimentation courtesy of the synth generation. The two guitarists identify with the Kurt Cobain school of sound: Keep it simple (Amp - Cable - Distortion Pedal - Cable - Guitar). The resultant sound? A Tele trying to out do a Strat; loud, dirty and occasionally beautifully chaotic. It is the contributions of a rack of keyboards that would make Emerson, Lake and Palmer weep that propels them into the 21st century. Think Blondie arpeggiators mixed with Prodigy sub-bass and you're getting there. Then think distorted solos where guitars traditionally churn out meandering pentatonics. Like the Kaiser Chiefs without the Britpop, Muse without the arrogance and the Killers without the eyeliner. The thing is, Eddison, refusing to conform to fad and fashion have been perfecting this sound for 4 years; it's as if the zeitgeist has finally caught up with them.
On October 30th, Eddison release their debut album, Black Above the Trees, on Aberdeen's Fat Hippy Records, an ever-growing indie, which, after an eclectic start, is now concentrating upon a limited release of exciting Scottish newcomers. Black Above the Trees, as apocalyptic in nature as it is in name, is a slice of electro-rock as rich and diverse in melody and innovation as it is in lyrical themes. It is in turns both pessimistically retrospective and defiantly optimistic, revealing chief songwriter Adam Keenan to be an amusing, if sometimes frustrating contradiction, lamenting about the superficialities of modernity, but willingly participating in the pleasures they bring. Thematically, the album certainly is diverse, focussing upon issues such as history and the seduction of nostalgia; upon the role of the unconscious; and perhaps mostly upon the impossible-to-negotiate differences between the two sexes. Eddison are quite sure they are the first band in the history of music to focus upon the latter.

Meanwhile, singer Kevin Nolan flits mercurially between numerous alter-ego roles; the soft-toned harmoniser, looking out dispassionately over the detritus of broken love and blue murder in 'Splinter'; the boozy wound nurser of 'Blood Wedding', howling from the dregs of the heart, then menacingly exhorting his betrayer to 'sleep with one eye open'; and the bright-eyed romantic of the wonderful 'The Guess', who mutates mid-song into a hoarse and raging prophet, growling his enigmatic truths across a pitiless earth: 'Dark is the counsel of man, for man is master of the Guess'.

GI Blythe is a band of exceptional players from the U.K. and the U.S. that have outrageous chops and share a pure joy of making music that is both exuberant and street savvy. The group’s founder and leader, Geoff Blythe on tenor & soprano sax, graduated with honors from the Coventry School of Music in the U.K. where he subsequently became a founding member of EMI recording artists Dexy’s Midnight Runners and was responsible for the band’s signature horn arrangements. Dexy’s hit debut album, Searching for the Young Soul Rebels, also included the number 1 hit single in the U.K., “Geno.” After leaving Dexy’s Geoff formed The Bureau, a group that had hits in Australia and Canada and recorded and toured the U.S. with The Pretenders.Several members of GI Blythe have worked together in various music settings over the years—including Dexy’s Midnight Runners—and along with Geoff have collectively played and/or recorded with a number of diverse artists from Elvis Costello, Paul Simon and Nick Lowe to Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter and The Funk Brothers (of Motown fame), to name but a few. GI Blythe’s fluid and driving rhythm section, the inventive way that they use horns in a Rock/Soul setting (arranged and delivered with an edgy sense of humor), along with singular vocals, are particularly noteworthy and create a sound that’s difficult to compare to anyone else. With origins shrouded in mystery, archeological investigations have indicated divine lineage. When asked directly about the birth, the reply is vague, yet suggestive: "I can't remember, I wasn't there."
Much is also not known about early formative years, but it is presumed keen skills were forged performing minor miracles at parties, fairs and informal social gatherings. Why the supernatural acts weren't widely reported remains in question, but since it was the 1960s, it is presumed that witnesses believed the miracles were just vivid hallucinations.
Historical written records take minor note of a fanatical following beginning to form during the early 1980s, but then as suddenly as the group appears, they disappear from public eye.
U.S. census records for the period track location to a small town in a rural. humble part of the country, where livestock still vastly outnumber human inhabitants on a 25 to 1 basis.
It is believed that during this period of public privacy, family was sired, raised and an intense period of study was initiated in the dark arts of sound recording.
Ultimately, as the dawn of the new millennium rose, a shining, near blinding light appeared; a salve for the senses, almost magical in nature.

Lars Mars was described by one long time fan as Perfectly Imperfect.The band formed in high school, playing local dances and parties before graduating to bars (and we even played at a few).
While Ron did a stint in the Army, Dennis and Glenn stormed LA. Bob and Russ worked with other bands and polished their already prodigious skills. Bob, Den and Ron formed a trio while Glenn was in the SF Bay area with one of its many fine startup bands. When Glenn returned, Russ joined the first of many iterations of Lars Mars, and that core has remained together since.

Carolyn Shaw and Ken Kingsbury met in late 2000 while singing at a performance workshop. They quickly connected vocally and Carolyn soon joined the newly formed Acoustic Son. Along with Mark Jacobson, Al Bedrosian and Nathan Taylor, they began writing songs together and performing around the Bay Area, drawing audiences with their lush harmonies and driving guitar rhythms. Their first CD debuted in 2002 and was followed in 2004 by their acclaimed CD “Time in the Middle” produced by Bonnie Hayes. Rick English joined the band as their lead guitarist in 2004 and has brought a rock infused flavor to their original music. In 2007 Ken and Rick started their project Kingsbury English putting out a CD of rock originals. Now working again with Bonnie Hayes Carolyn Shaw and Ken Kingsbury have released their 3rd CD - Cross the Line - teaming up with Rick English, Mark Jacobson and many of the Bay Area’s top musicians to bring their best work yet. The music is strong and the melodies catchy as they weave through relationship, spirituality, and the strong connection to each other they have in their music. Acoustic Rock, with alt-country pop is what folks describe as their style and brand. Take a listen and hear for yourself!

Part bluegrass band, part comedy troupe, part working-class Joes…together, a century of collective experience on stringed instruments, witty stage sarcasm and good ol’ boy beer connoisuership.The Jammers were born from an open invite of friends gathering to play any style of music they knew, and the result was a long-term friendship and a lot of terrific music. They began as the house band at the now defunct Village Pub in Stonington Borough, Connecticut, and while packing the house, they began the generous practice of inviting fellow musicians...some good, some dying trying...to share their stage. The band was infectious with its own brand of ridiculous humor, costumes, and special guests.It's been said that a Village Jammers practice session is much more than just chords and tunings; you get a healthy dose of political debate, blue-collar beer bottles, beef jerky, ball-busting, and oh yeah, some pretty good music too. The band's knack for encouraging their growing circle of musician friends to join them for jam sessions and gigs; talented musicians like Jay Dempsey, Jim Carpenter, Tommy Giarratano, Vince Thompson, Bill Light, and Steve Jakubielski, makes the Village Jammers as much a family as they are a band. Founding member and harmonica extraordinaire Rene Brisson, who sadly passed away in 2000, still retains an honorary seat in the jam circle each session.

After graduating from Montclair High in 2004, Emily had the tough decision of grinding in New York to pursue her recording career or going to a college. She chose the later and was accepted at prestigious Cal Arts outside of L.A. The experience has paid off. Now a second year theatrical major, Emily has developed into a true triple threat performer. She has had several auditions and landed a role in pilot ""Beautiful"" being developed for T.V. Upon the producers hearing her voice she was asked to perform the theme song. During her first year at Cal Arts Emily traveled back and forth to New York to do a showcase for Columbia Records former President Steve Greenberg and shoot the music video for ""I Don't Wanna Fall in Love"" and ""Yeah"". In March 2006 Urban Melodic Productions President Charlie Jones (audio mixer for The Chris Rock Show, BET's 106 & Park, Showtime at the Apollo and Daytime Series ""Guiding Light"", decided to stop taking A&R meetings and release the first singles. As he was doing the rounds at the major labels everyone kept telling him that Emily was as competitive if not better than most artists signed at a major label. That lead him to form Urban Melodic Records. The singles are now available on iTunes. The goal of the label is to create industry and consumer awareness about Emily and position the company to enter into a joint venture situation with a major media company.
Currents plans are to begin the PR, marketing and promotion campaign for the music video December 2006. The video will be serviced to MTV, VH1, BET and Fuse and to broadband Internet outlets. The targeted street date for the album is January 30, 2007. Keep your ears open and your eyes peeled for the next platinum star in the music game, Emily Jackson.

Dirge K was born on 5th October 1981 and died on 3rd October 2006 aged 24.
At school she played the flute and read music. She taught herself to play the guitar and the electric organ and loved to sing. She spent hours practicing her singing notes.
She started collaborating with other musicians on the internet at various music collaboration sites in 2003. She wrote all her own lyrics and used Cubase for AppleMac for recording her vocals and did all her recording in the dining room or kitchen of her house.

I Can't Two Step Houston Out Of My Mind
He's spent most of his life behind a guitar - singing and pickin', from campfire circles to concert stages. Guitarist and vocalist DON BURNHAM is best known as the bandleader of LOST WEEKEND Western Swing Band (since 1985).
Born in San Francisco (June 3, 1947), DON was raised on the SF Peninsula, and he attended the University of California, where guitars, music and songwriting ultimately prevailed over other studies.
Drafted by Uncle Sam in 1968, DON served in the US ARMY/Korea. He worked for a time in New York City at the National Broadcasting Company (NBC) as a news assistant, before returning to California and the West Coast music scene. DON supported his music habit by working as a seasonal park ranger, where he developed his musical program known as 'Songs and Tales of California and the West'.
After years as a folksinger, troubadour, songwriter, and bandleader, DON'S overriding interest in swing music and traditional jazz produced his NEW CENTURY JAZZ BAND, and also the Western Swing outfit LOST WEEKEND. Ultimately these two bands 'merged' (1991). The modern Western Swing band known as LOST WEEKEND today is internationally recognized as one of the leading lights in contemporary Western Swing. DON was inducted into the Western Swing Hall of Fame in 2005.
DON continues today performing with LOST WEEKEND, as well as with smaller subsets of the group (the BOLOS, the OVERALLS) and also as he began, with just his Martin guitar.

bands succeed in developing themselves and truly taking a step forward. For most, development stops here: experience has been gained, but without real progress. Magnetfisch, who have become a quartet since, are a noticeable exception. In the past they proved expressively that they were able to compose moving, calm and melodious instrumental arrangements. The original duo made of Timothée Barrelet (keyboards, programming) and Patrick Scherrer (guitar) was rejoined by bass player Rolf Althaus and singer Seline Kunz. She eventually gives a charismatic visage to the band’s compositions and completes the instrumentals with a voice which perfectly fits in. In the wide worlds between synth pop and new wave, Magnetfisch have sort of created an own segment by combining guitars and synthesizers in their own way. The lead track, “botox”, is simultaneously buoyant and harmonious and accentuates Seline Kunz’s distinctive voice. In my opinion, “poisonous trace” is the best song of the single, pricking one’s ears with its melodies and by the singing. The change of speed towards the end is impressive, and the voice reminds me Siouxsie Sioux (Siouxsie And The Banshees) at times, with a hint of Marion Küchenmeister (Invisible Limits). "Footloose and Steady" is by no means inferior to its predecessor, with the awe-inspiring bass playing by Rolf Althaus coming to the fore.

New Light Brigade are a 5 piece group playing melodic, expressive music. Their sound has been described as anything from Folk Rock to West Coast and they certainly have a variety of styles at their disposal. They formed in May 2010 though their members have been involved in groups together since their college days in the late 90s.
The group features Karl Sloan who's song Beauty at high tide was successful on IAC in 1997 and also topped the Cashbox pop picks chart.
Gigs in the last 2 years include Beverley & Cambridge folk festivals (the former being Broadcast on BBC Radio) and the band are currently trying to arrange dates for the Summer of 2011.

learned on my own to play the guitar at the age of 7, one year after I listened for the first time to "Can't buy me love"" many years after the Beatles had already split. My father who used to play 4 different instruments and passed away at the end of March 2010 was the one who introduced me to music and Simon & Garfunkel and showed me the first 4 accords. The Beatles had a tremendeous impact on me even though my style has nothing in common with the Beatles sound. Nevertheless, listening to the Beatles and reading about George Harrison was the other reason why I learned to play. Up to this day I have never taken lessons and tried to come up with my own style. Fame? Not important, or let's better say not as important as loving your own music and being able to sent messages and express emotions even without lyrics. I used to play for years with a German band called the ""Subway Riders"". After many years of simply not having the time to play I decided at the end of June 2008 to finally record all the songs which I had in my head for too long. Accordingly, I composed, recorded and mixed 126 songs within a year. My songs are the result of the inspiration of the most wonderful people one can meet in a lifetime, and god's blessing, I am grateful.... and enligthened. For the moment all songs were recorded with cheap headphones into my computer and than mixed with soundforge. I am planning to record the best songs in a professional studio in a few weeks.

I grew up in a family of writers and my mother was into the folk scene so we were either at poetry readings or folk clubs. I was destined to do something arty and so here I am today still writing songs and playing guitar. One of the most important influences for me was after I won a song writers competition for my song ""Pukerua Bay"", at the Auckland Folk festival in 1990. I won time in a recording studio where I recorded my first album ""Drifting at Whananaki"". The following year in 1991 at the Auckland Folk Festival, I came runner up for my song ""Totara Berry"" after my sister came 1st for her song ""Missing"". I was on my way as a young musician and have since completed a 3 year music diploma and 1st year university music paper where I learnt to read music and play basic piano. I recorded another album in 2004 called ""Metal Roads"" and have another album in the wings.

Tamara has written with or for such artists as Elton John, Andreas Carlson, Tom Scott, Chicago, The Doobie Brothers, Brenda Russell, Paul Rogers and Douglas Carr. She has contributed background vocals for many others such as Richard Marx, Elton John, Phil Collins, James Brown and Mister,Mister and garnished gold records from Europe and Scandinavia. She also co-wrote the 1996 hit for the late Chris LeDoux, "Runaway Love." In between these solo accomplishments, Tamara sang with the Bill Champlin band that toured in Europe in the mid 90's, recently took the stage with the Sons of Champlin, first as a featured performer, then in 2010 as a full band member. Tamara also guested with Santa Fe and the Fat City Horns in Las Vegas.
She worked with son Will Champlin, also a singer/songwriter in his own right, composing the title track on Lori Michael's cd "Living My Life Out Loud". Tamara later teamed again with son Will, Michael Caruso and Robin Scofield and co-wrote the title track to Will's "Killing Me With Twilight" EP now available at http://www.willchamplin.com. In November of 2009, she completed a tour with Bill Champlin's Band to promote his new CD "No Place Left to Fall".

These Shows at PRINCEZZZ and PHLEGM's humble abode often draw more listeners than than some of Tucson's sadly under-attended clubs. ARTFEST provides a venue for Musicians who create & perform ORIGINAL music and are tired of NOT getting any reward for doing it. Some of Tucson's Finest Musicians have been in the band CONVERSATION SUICIDE and many of that Local Scene's FINEST Bands, and associated musicians, have played one of their EARLY shows, before local acclaim, at an ARTFEST show. My heart and sole is Country Music. I started that journey whe I was eleven years old. My mother and dad was musicians and all their families were. My mom bought my first guitar when I was eleven from a Montgomery Wards Catalog.I learned to play on that guitar and when I was thirteen I worked for a farmer for 50 cents a day and told him not to pay me until I had $30.00. So that's what he did.
When I got payed My dad took me to town and I bought my first real guitar(not sayin the montgomery wards guitar wasn't real but it was just to learn on and cut my fingers up with... lol.)
The Guitar I bought was a 1956 Harmony Sovereign.
I played onstage the first time when I was 14 and I was hooked right then. Dad was a member of the VFW so he got me to play for them. From there it went to night clubs and on to Calif. where I won talent shows at the Golden Embers in Rialto and they sent me to The Palimino in Hollywood and I won that talent show. When I was about 26 or 27 years old I got to be a guest in the old reiman (Grand Old Opry.)

Vince has played guitar since he was 9, in bands since he was 13, lost the use of his hands at age 21 thanks to dermatitis and incompetent doctors, however still played with various bands, most notably The Vultures, Wonky Dodgem, Grope and Bagpuss as well as his UK home recording project, Idiosync. Vince moved to the US in 2003 and, with hands back to normal, set to recording as Monkey68, working on the backlog of songs from his broken hand days and new ones coming along all the time.
Live, he is joined in Monkey68 by Pete on bass and Tony on drums.

After receiving a production deal to record The Waking Up EP by Fat Cat Recording in Sacramento, CA, Serena's single ""Unlaunched Star"" earned her the opportunity to have a music video produced by Mark Austin at USC's School of Cinematic Arts. Serena continued writing songs and performing shows until her graduation from Stanford University upon which she chose to move to Hollywood to try out the music industry firsthand.

She started collaborating with other musicians on the internet at various music collaboration sites in 2003. She wrote all her own lyrics and used Cubase for AppleMac for recording her vocals and did all her recording in the dining room or kitchen of her house.

“Tony Copeland” a jazz guitarist born and raised in the small port town of Portsmouth, Virginia currently residing in Houston TX. He began playing music at an early age, after his parents Floyd a retired Longshoreman and Velma a retired city worker purchased two guitars, one for him and one for his older brother “Reneal”. As his father was a hard worker and a great provider, it was his mother who kept him and his seven siblings in church filled with a host of undiscovered musicians. This is where they honed their skills by watching and imitating the older guitar, bass and drum players. It is a fact that Tony did much of his early practicing, in the home closet. The story goes like this: His father belonged to the quartet “The Golden Tones” which eventually disbanded. Floyd the father brought the musical instruments (guitar, bass, amplifier and microphone) home and put them away in the home closet. They (Tony) would sneak in while his father was away and practice on these instruments in the dark

am 27 years old and I'm a songwriter. I have always loved to sing but somewhere between the ages of three and seven became petrified of doing so in front of others. I have a memory I wanna share....When my parents were outside gardening or my dad was in his office workin and my mom stepped out to go to the market, I would find the most quiet corner of the house, usually the bathroom for some reason, and sing. And I use to scare myself with the sounds that I'd here that I couldn't do it for very long. The sound of my own voice made me feel so sad and almost immediately made me want to cry. Very strange. Anyways, that and not being one who was drawn to the spot light kept from really doing anything serious with my voice till I met my husband. Actually thats not entirely true...I played the clarinet in my middle schools band but desperately wanted to be in the singing group called the Wave. When I tried out for my teacher Mr.Leff he was so disappointed by the thought of loosing me as a clarinetist that he strongly discouraged me from leaving the band. I had gathered up all the strength I had to get through that little audition, so when he basically turned me down I became incredibly embaressed and angry and quit the band. Wow, that made him mad. He told me I was a diamond in the rough as I huffed outta his office.
